Senate Chamber |
The upper chamber of the National Assembly today passed on to the second reading a bill that sought to extend the validity period of Joint Matriculation Board (JAMB) result from one year to three years.
When delibrating on the bill, Senator Sam Egwu said he supports the bill but pointed out that the 3 years extension may cause more confusions in the universities as most public universities in the country have limited spaces to absorb the students.
However, the senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki spoke in favour of the bill after he led the rest of the senate members to vote on the bill and then forwarded the bill to the senate committee on tertiary education and TET fund committee for more deliberations and consultations.
